My Area! My Freedom! ~Nyo!Living by the word HOLY: Hentai Otaku Lolicon & Y power!!! 2008/1/22 how to listen to a songMusic, as we all know, is basically a compostion and arrangement of sounds from instruments (or other sources) that comes together in harmony, or whatever you would like to call it.
Well, the problem is, with the integration of vocal and lyrics, the emphasis of a song seems to be shifted towards this new part, as it is more concrete and comprehensible in nature than the abstract music. So, it seems that music in this era (mainstream, i mean) focus mainly on the lyrics, and songs are judge usually by that, leaving the instrumental part in the secondary position. I don't like that; plain and simple. It just encourages people to just listen to what they have to say in lyrics, or at least that's what the trend is showing. Instrumental music just became incomprehensible, foreign to be exact, and music in foreign language became no music at all. What is the purpose, then, of the sound that accompanies the words? Should not we all just take the leaflet that comes with the CD and read the lyrics, like reading a poetry, and forget the CD itself? I'd say the main part of a music piece is the instrumetal part itself. The guitars, saxophones, pianos, the drums, and even the vocals - as an instrument, not a conveyor of the content - are the parts that matters more than the words. It is the core to the emotional approach of a song, like how an abstract piece of painting reach the spiritual part of a soul, as oppose to a realistic painting that offers nothing more than the content on the canvas (expressionism is another matter). So, what I suggest you all do is, as difficult as it may sound to many of you literalists, do not care the lyrics and just treat the vocals as instuments. Feel the music, the rhythm, the harmony, the energy and emotion. This will also allow one to listen to instrumental songs and foreign songs as well. This is the basic of abstract art, including music. But sorry, I don't think this work well with many of mainstream songs which are bent by the trends of the music focus that produce crappy music (but rather good lyrics, some at least), and the rap songs that I don't quite consider then 'music' at all... 2008/1/16 Chapter XII: I Decide The Chapter Numberไม่ได้อัพมาปีกว่า ช่างมันเถอะ มีกะใจทำอีกรอบก็บุญละ(อ้าว)

Anyway, surprisingly, the promo exam result was... satisfactory; not as predicted in the last entry, which was long ago, apparently. By the way, I have the SAT exam coming up at the end of this month, guess I need to study more vocabulary...
It surely feels weird to be a J2....

3. Have to cover events for photog
4. Have to attend painting workshop, which they say that one has to do 80 sketches and 20 full painting
5. Have to be staff for art activities for kids, and i'm in the "face paint" section T_T
6. Have to study for bio and physics test
7. Have to pack things up
8. Have to shift back to my former now-very-dirty-and-cologne-smelly room
9. Have to wake up in early morning and stay awake during math lecture and tutorial
10. Have to bear with hostel food
DAMMIT I WANNA GO HOME

PS. When I get back we'll watch Xmen3 together ok? 2006/5/9 Chapter I 9: That red negative numberAh.... haven't up in a a while, so busy. Feel like dying soon. But anyway, I'm goin back on 31st May til 24 June!!!
But sorry, have to study for exam after vacation, it is how it works here...
I'm so broke!!!! This month spent more than 400 already! N they give me 200 a month, and still there are more things to pay for. Without my mom's money, I'll have less than 0 dollars now... Whatever got to go now: lesson, and hope I can up again soon... |
